MNT Nodes & Staking.

Staking as an activity, and as an economic parameter, is the primary utility function and crux of the Minutes Network model.

Infrastructure

  • Minutes Network is run on the staked MNT Node Infrastructure comprising 500 Switch Nodes and 2,500 Validation Nodes.
  • MNT Switch Nodes: Provisioning Capacity
500 Switch Nodes provides the network with the ability to terminate up to 72 million minutes of traffic per day, equating to 10% of global wholesale voice traffic. If further capacity is required, more Switch Nodes can be added without limitation.
  • MNT Validation Nodes: Protecting Integrity
2,500 Validation Nodes continuously test the network to ensure the availability and operability of both Switch Nodes and end users. They also provide latency to keep the network functioning 24/7/365.

Staking

  • All MNT Nodes are stakable and provide the only staking opportunities within the Minutes Network ecosystem. The minimum threshold stakes required to secure a node are 50,000 MNTs per Switch Node and 10,000 MNTs per Validation Node.

Rewards

  • These are provisioned from an allocation amounting to 60% of the MNT Token Reward Pool (TRP) and is shared equally between the Switch Nodes (30%) and the Validation Nodes (30%).
  • The Node Staking programme incorporates variable staking and dynamic algorithmic burning elements.
  • The actual rewards dispersed are determined proportionately and dynamically according to the total number of tokens staked relative to the total MNT supply in circulation.
  • Whilst each Node has a minimum MNT threshold stake, there is no upper limit on the number of MNTs that can be staked on any node. Increased global staking raises the overall rewards distributed and less staking increases the algorithmic burn.
  • To prevent excess staking, all nodes are subject to a capital efficiency decay which reduces marginal rewards per token if there is too much staking to a particular node.
