MNT Nodes & Staking

Staking as an activity, and as an economic parameter, is the primary utility function and crux of the Minutes Network model.

Infrastructure

Minutes Network is run on the staked MNT Node Infrastructure comprising 500 Switch Nodes and 2,500 Validation Nodes.

MNT Switch Nodes: Provisioning Capacity

500 Switch Nodes allow the network to terminate up to 72 million minutes of traffic per day, which equates to 10% of the global wholesale voice traffic. More Switch Nodes can be added without limitation if further capacity is required.

MNT Validation Nodes: Protecting Integrity

2,500 Validation Nodes continuously test the network to ensure the availability and operability of both Switch Nodes and end users. They also provide latency to keep the network functioning 24/7/365.

Staking

All MNT Nodes are stakable and provide the only staking opportunities within the Minutes Network ecosystem. The minimum threshold stakes required to secure a node are 50,000 MNTs per Switch Node and 10,000 MNTs per Validation Node.

Rewards

MNT rewards are purchased on-market by smart contract for automatic distribution. There are no manual or orchestrated secondary market interventions by any party connected to Minutes Network Ltd or Minutes Network Token LLC

3,000 MNT Node Holding opportunities are available, split between 500 Switch Nodes and 2,500 Validation Nodes. The minimum threshold stake required to secure a Switch Node is 50,000 MNT's and a Validation Node is 10,000 MNT's

10% of the reward pool (undiluted) is allocated to Node Holders.

Node and MNT Stakers share 60% of the reward pool

Holders rewards are allocated on a weighted, pro rata basis

Each Switch Node that is fully operative during an Epoch generating 0.01% of the Epoch reward pool

Each Validation Node that is fully operative during an Epoch generating 0.002% of the Epoch reward pool

Node Holders also share from 37.5 million Early Staking rewards over the first 24 months. These are similarly distributed on a weighted pro-rata basis. To be eligible for these rewards the Node must be staked and operative for the whole Epoch. Any of these rewards that are not eligible to be claimed each month will be burned.

MNT Staker rewards are issued on a pro rata basis for every MNT staked.

These rewards are subject to an algorithmic burn which is related to the proportion of the total circulating supply that is staked.

For the purpose of this calculation, any MNT in the wallets for Network Expansion and User Rewards, and any MNT staked against Unity Nodes are excluded from the circulating supply.
