WhatsApp and other free-calling solutions have had a significant impact on the international voice calls market. These applications leverage internet connectivity and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology to enable users to make voice calls over the internet, often at little to no cost. Here are some key impacts:
WhatsApp and similar apps have disrupted the traditional model of international voice calls, which relied on telecom operators and their pricing structures. By offering free or significantly cheaper international calls, these apps have challenged the revenue streams of traditional voice service providers. Users now have alternatives that are more cost-effective, leading to reduced demand for traditional international voice services.
The availability of free-calling solutions has resulted in a decline in revenue for telecom operators and service providers that relied on international voice calls as a significant source of income. As users increasingly opt for free alternatives, operators have experienced a reduction in their international call revenues, which has prompted them to re-evaluate their business models and explore new revenue streams.
WhatsApp and similar apps have introduced intense competition to the international voice calls market. These apps offer high-quality voice calls that can rival traditional phone networks, making it more challenging for telecom operators to differentiate their services solely based on voice call quality. Operators must now compete with these apps by providing additional value-added services, better customer experiences, and competitive pricing.
The availability and ease of use of free-calling solutions have led to a shift in consumer behaviour. People are increasingly opting for these apps as their primary means of communication, especially for international calls. This shift has influenced user preferences, as they now prioritize internet-based communication platforms over traditional voice services.
In response to the rise of free-calling solutions, telecom operators have been compelled to adapt their business strategies. Some operators have launched their own voice and messaging apps to compete in the market. Others have diversified their services to focus on data-centric offerings, such as internet packages, streaming services, and value-added communication features beyond voice calls.
It's worth noting that while free-calling solutions like WhatsApp have had a significant impact on the international voice calls market, traditional voice services still retain relevance for certain use cases, particularly in areas with limited internet access or for users with specific communication requirements. However, the rise of these apps has undoubtedly reshaped the landscape of international voice communication.
International Telecommunications Points of Presence (PoPs) are physical locations where telecommunication carriers or service providers establish a presence within a specific country or region to interconnect with other networks. These PoPs serve as strategic hubs for exchanging voice, data, and other telecommunications services between different operators and networks on an international scale. Here's why they are important:
PoPs facilitate the interconnection of multiple telecommunication networks, allowing carriers to exchange voice and data traffic with each other. By establishing a presence at PoPs, operators can establish direct interconnections with other networks, enabling efficient and reliable communication services between different countries or regions.
International PoPs are strategically located in key metropolitan areas around the world. They act as gateways for carriers to extend their network reach beyond their domestic boundaries. By connecting to PoPs, operators can expand their global coverage and offer international connectivity and services to their customers.
PoPs play a crucial role in enhancing network redundancy and resilience. Carriers often establish multiple PoPs in different geographical locations to ensure redundancy in case of network failures or disruptions. By diversifying their PoP locations, operators can create alternate routing paths and backup options, minimizing the impact of network outages and improving service reliability.
PoPs are strategically positioned to optimize the routing of voice and data traffic. They enable operators to choose the most efficient paths for traffic exchange, considering factors such as network performance, latency, and cost. By leveraging PoPs, carriers can optimize their traffic routing and ensure high-quality, low-latency connections for international communication services.
Establishing a PoP in a specific country or region provides telecommunication operators with local presence and access to the local market. This can be advantageous for operators seeking to expand their services and cater to the needs of customers in specific geographic areas. It allows them to establish relationships with local carriers, service providers, and enterprises, fostering collaboration and enhancing business opportunities.
PoPs can serve as hubs for offering value-added services, such as cloud connectivity, content delivery, and managed network services. By co-locating their infrastructure at PoPs, operators can leverage the existing connectivity and infrastructure to deliver additional services to their customers, enhancing their service portfolio and competitiveness.
Overall, international PoPs are vital for enabling the interconnection of global telecommunication networks, extending network reach, optimizing traffic routing, ensuring network resilience, and accessing local markets. They play a crucial role in facilitating international communication services and supporting the global telecommunications ecosystem.
Minutes Network has created the Mintech suite of advanced technologies and protocols, which reduce carrier-costs associated with international voice calling, and has the potential to reinvigorate carrier profitability.
Minutes Network does not yet operate in the short messaging services market. We intend to expand into this market in 2024.
Minutes Network receives 15% of the MNT rewards to sustain continued Mintech development and network expansion.
Network Users are the source of all Minutes Network income. Whilst we deliver the lowest possible pricing to originating carriers, we cannot ensure this is passed back in the form of lower costs for callers. Therefore, we pass 25% of all rewards back to Network Users to ensure they too receive benefits from the Minutes Network ecosystem. The full details of the programme will be announced in 2024 with the release of our retail application.
We will use CertiK to audit our smart contract prior to its release.
MNTs Tokenomics have been developed in conjunction with 01X.
Please click the link to read the full details of the MNT Tokenomics model.
Rewards distributions will occur automatically at the end of each calendar month once the distribution process has begun.
Reward distribution will commence at the end of the first month following the closure of the Node Staking process.
Only 500,000,000 MNTs will ever be minted.
Once our retail application is released in 2024, Network users will be able to access and track their rewards in real time.
Rewards are generated from the net revenues of Minutes Network.
Rewards are calculated by dividing the total onboarded net revenue by the prevailing MNT secondary market price. You can find out more information in the MNT Tokenomics documentation.

The exact technical process is a proprietary, competitive advantage and we are exploring the opportunities to patent the MRT.
Mintech will remain a continuous engine of development.
Switch Nodes provide Minutes Network with termination capacity. The 500 Switch Nodes ALLOWS the network to terminate up to 72 million minutes of traffic per day which equates to 10% of global wholesale voice traffic. More Switch Nodes can be added without limitation if further capacity is required.
The Validation Nodes protect the integrity and health of Minutes Network. They test to ensure the availability and operability of both Switch Nodes and end users. We allocated 5 Validation Nodes per Switch Node to provide latency to keep the network functioning 24/7/365.
The minimum threshold MNT stake required to secure MNT nodes are as follows:
There are 3,000 Nodes that are available for staking: 500 Switch Nodes and 2,500 Validation Nodes.
The dynamic staking element is an intrinsic aspect of the MNT Tokenomics model. In the simplest terms, Node Stakers receive their Rewards from an allocation of 60% of the, buyback created, Token Reward Pool.
The exact allocation is determined according to the proportion of the staked relative to the total MNTs in circulation at the moment of distribution.
For example, if 20% of the total circulating MNT supply was staked for nodes, then 20% of the available rewards would be shared and the remainder sent to MNT Treasury and burned.
As there is a continuous dynamic release of MNTs over the first 60 months, stakers will be making real time decisions as to whether to buy and stake more MNTs to receive more rewards, or to let more MNTs pass to Treasury for burning.
Node Staking will commence once the TGE closes.
Switch nodes and validation nodes are both managed from the MNT portal (portal.minutesnetworktoken.io)
You can bring your own device for Minutes Network Validation Nodes, but not for Switch Nodes yet. Validation Nodes can be run from home or we recommend using a popular cloud provider.
All Nodes can be set up using the automatic configuration wizard provided in the staking section of the Minutes Network Token portal. If you would like to set up a node yourself, a guide will be made available to facilitate this option.
The minimum specifications for validation nodes are as follows:
Nodes may unstaked at any time via the token portal. When you unstake, you may forfeit your rewards for that epoch.
There is no expertise required to run a Switch or Validation node, and nodes are installed in just a few clicks using our setup wizard. If you bring your own device, you will need basic knowledge to setup your node and set-up guides will be provided.
If you bring your own device, you can self-manage a Validation Node. This involves monitoring the nodes uptime and bandwidth availability. If your internet connection has stability issues, we recommend hosting your node via a secure cloud service. Nodes with inconsistent uptime risk receiving no rewards for that epoch. You can use the token portal to view the overall health and status of your node whether it is hosted in the cloud or at home.
Each individual node is represented by a tradable NFT.
Node staking is managed from within the MNT Control Panel.
No, there are only three-thousand Node ownership positions available at launch.
Validation nodes require you to pay a service provider for hosting costs. If you are self hosting, standard electricity usage charges will apply.
Both Switch and Validation nodes run proprietary software. Nodes are built for a Linux environment, however Windows is supported using Wine (winehq.org).
Node staking and deployment will become immediately available once the TGE closes.
